HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Core Values

Our actions at the House of Caring are guided by a sense of honesty, fairness, respectability, humility, discipline, enterprise, dignity, integrity, compassion, and courage.  We encourage our children at the House of Caring to embrace our values.

Who we are

We are a dedicated and concerned group of individuals in the United Kingdom, United States of America and Sierra Leone, who care about the welfare of children.

We come from various professional backgrounds: academia, business, accounting, architecture, medicine and health, information technology, public administration, and others.

Who we serve

This organisations started after the civil war, which ended in 2002. Tragic events of recent years have also created orphans, which is why our work continues.

We guide the success of our children all of whom have been orphaned.

Before our children come to us, they have likely experienced many more risks and negative outcomes than their peers because of their inability to access education, healthcare and protective services.

For 18 years, House of Caring operated from rented premises in Wellington, Sierra Leone. During that period funds were raised to allow us to erect our own premises nearer Freetown. Through fundraising and the very generous contribution from Dr Leslie Leigh, Dr Danni Suskin and other doctors and staff of Gwinnett Neonatology PC from Georgia, USA, the present building was completed, and the home opened in 2021. It is a family-orientated residential care facility and currently supports 9 boys, between the ages of 8 and 11.

Boys who have graduated from the home are now gainfully employed and giving back to society.
